🚀 STEAM Adventure at ACU! 🌟

Anson Elementary students had an ABSOLUTE BLAST yesterday at Abilene Christian University! 🎓✨ We dove headfirst into a world of innovation, creativity, and teamwork.

Check out what our amazing thinkers tackled:

🛰️ Space Explorers: Navigating the stars with Sphero robots!

🎹 Inventors: Turning everyday objects into musical masterpieces with Makey Makeys!

🏹 Bullseye: Testing our focus and precision with some archery fun!

🎮 Team Players: Collaborating and strategizing in the Esports arena!

🧬 Scientists: Exploring the human body like never before with BodyViz anatomy slices!

🎨 Artists: Getting inspired by The Grace Museum and the National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature
to create incredible pieces of artwork.

It was a day full of "Aha!" moments and "How did they do that?!" wonders.

Thank you, Region 14, for hosting another fabulous STEAM Adventure!💡

🚀 From the Moon to the West! 🤠🌵

Anson Elementary students took a "Texas-sized" journey for Read Across America this week!

We used the power of technology to connect virtually with experts across the state, blending literacy with art, history, and science. 💻✨

Check out our amazing stops:

🌕 McDonald Observatory: We blasted off with The Astronaut Who Painted the Moon and joined a virtual session to see how Alan Bean turned lunar adventures into masterpieces! 🎨🚀

🐗 Imagination Ft. Worth: We huffed, puffed, and learned about desert life during our digital visit for The Three Little Javelinas! 🏠🌵

👢 Briscoe Museum: We solved the mystery of Why Cowboys Sleep with Their Boots On via a live look at Western history—turns out, life on the trail is pretty wild! 🐄⭐

It’s been a week of big books, virtual travels, and even bigger ideas. Ask your student which "trip" was their favorite! 📚✨

Lab Highlights: Chemical vs. Physical Changes in IPC 🧪🔥

Miss Meyer’s IPC students took their chemistry unit to the next level this week! They moved beyond the textbook to observe matter in action, analyzing the high-energy reaction of "explosive" gummy bears and the rapid decomposition of hydrogen peroxide in an "Elephant Toothpaste" demo. 🍬💥🐘

The focus wasn't just on the spectacle; students were tasked with identifying specific evidence—like gas production, temperature shifts, and color changes—to distinguish between chemical and physical reactions. 🕵️‍♀️📝

It was great to see such high levels of engagement and critical thinking in the lab today!

Can you explain the difference between an endothermic and an exothermic reaction? 🧠✨
