**Anson Elementary Students Shine Bright at Drug-Free Color Run**
Anson Elementary students brought vibrant energy and high spirits to the athletic track as they participated in a special Drug-Free Color Run aimed at encouraging healthy, active living.
The event came together thanks to a community partnership initiated over the summer when Kayla Arce from Anson General Hospital reached out to Brianna Scitern Anson Elementary Principal to propose hosting the run. Elementary administration partnered with Coach Wheeler to coordinate the use of the high school athletic track, giving students a fantastic space to run, laugh, and celebrate health.
Sponsored entirely by Anson General Hospital, the event was provided at no cost to the school. The hospital donated a complete event kit for each participant, including custom t-shirts, sunglasses, wristbands, water bottles, crayons, and educational coloring books.
Before taking off from the starting line, Kayla addressed the students, sharing an inspiring message about the importance of making positive, healthy choices for their minds and bodies. The theme of the day was proudly displayed on the back of every student's shirt: **"BE YOURSELF. BE UNIQUE. BE DRUG FREE."**
Once the race officially kicked off, students completed a course ranging from 300 to 400 yards at their own pace. As they rounded the track, volunteer staff and organizers tossed bursts of vibrant red, blue, yellow, orange, pink, purple, and green powder, covering the runners in a rainbow of color.
After crossing the finish line, students cooled down with water and headed home with their drug-free coloring books, taking both bright memories and a strong message about healthy living back into the community.

Students from surrounding schools that will be attending our ACT - Chad Cargill workshop that morning will also be in attendance. Future FFA Leaders Take the Field at Greenhand Day!
More than 200 freshmen gather at Anson High School for a day of teamwork, leadership, and fun.
Anson High School welcomed more than 200 first-year FFA members from 12 schools on Tuesday, September 15, for the Double Mountain District FFA Greenhand Day. Participating schools included Hawley, Anson, Roby, Hamlin, and Stamford, among others.
Greenhand Day is designed specifically for ninth-grade students who are new to FFA, giving them an opportunity to meet fellow members, develop leadership skills, and discover what the organization has to offer. The event brought students from across the district together for a day filled with team-building games, leadership activities, and plenty of fun.
The Double Mountain District FFA officers took charge of running the day's events, putting their own leadership skills to work while helping the newest generation of FFA members build confidence, communicate, and work together.
Anson High School was well represented in the district officer team, with Miley Adkins serving as District Reporter and Mason Coe serving as District Secretary. Both students helped lead the activities and demonstrated the leadership opportunities available through FFA.
Mr. Scitern and Mr. Gesling Anson HS FFA advisors helped host the event, providing students with an opportunity to connect with members from neighboring schools while learning the importance of teamwork and leadership.
Beyond the games and activities, Greenhand Day served a larger purpose: helping new members feel welcome and encouraging them to become involved in FFA throughout their high school years.
With 12 schools represented and more than 150 students participating, the event brought together the next generation of agricultural leaders for a memorable day at Anson High School.
One thing is certain: the future of FFA is in good hands, and the Tigers were proud to help welcome its newest members!

Accounting in Action: Students Give Back Through Meals on Wheels
Anson High School’s Accounting II students are taking what they have learned in the classroom and putting those skills to work in the community. Under the guidance of their sponsor, **Mrs. Fladager**, students are collecting donations to support **Meals on Wheels** while gaining valuable real-world accounting experience.
The service project gives students an opportunity to experience the responsibilities that come with handling and managing money. As donations are collected, students are responsible for helping organize the funds, maintaining accurate records, and tracking the money using **QuickBooks**.
Rather than simply learning accounting concepts from a textbook, students are seeing firsthand why accuracy, organization, and accountability are so important when dealing with real money. The project also gives them practical experience using QuickBooks, a program commonly used by businesses to manage financial information.
Most importantly, the students are using their education to make a difference. Their work helps support Meals on Wheels and the important services it provides to members of the local community.

Tiger Pride Burns Bright During Homecoming Week
Homecoming Week is officially underway at Anson ISD, and Tiger pride was burning bright last night during one of our favorite traditions—the Burning of the Letters!
Students, staff, families, and community members gathered together to celebrate Homecoming Week and show their Tiger spirit. As the letters went up in flames, it was a great reminder that Homecoming is about more than a football game. It is about tradition, community, school spirit, and bringing generations of Anson Tigers together.
A special thank-you goes to Pastor Mathew St. John of First Baptist Church for taking the time to speak to everyone in attendance. We greatly appreciate his words and his continued support of our students, school, and community.

PALS (Peer Assistance and Leadership) is a program designed to help students develop leadership skills while building positive relationships and making a difference in their school and community.
Through PALS, students learn important skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, responsibility, empathy, and problem-solving. They participate in activities that encourage them to work together, support others, and become positive role models for their peers.
For Mrs. Favors’ PALS students, even something as simple as learning to juggle becomes a team-building opportunity. Students practice patience, encourage one another, learn from mistakes, and discover that working together can make challenging tasks a little easier—and a lot more fun!

Tigers Giving Back: Anson HS Students Lend a Helping Hand
Just because it’s a new school year doesn’t mean our students have stopped being some of the best students in the Big Country! Once again, Ms. Salge has rounded up a great group of Anson High School students to lend a helping hand at the food bank.
On the last Thursday of each month (except November and December), our students head to Anson Methodist Church to give their time and energy to help organize, pack, and distribute food to members of our community.
This month, we want to recognize Naomi, Melanie, Mason, Hayden, and Leah for giving their time to serve others and represent Anson High School. These students rolled up their sleeves and showed that Tiger Pride is about more than just what happens in the classroom—it’s about giving back to your community!
This incredible community effort has been going strong for over 25 years, thanks in large part to Barbara Berry, who has been organizing and helping coordinate the food bank for more than two decades. Bruce Morgan, along with Julie, Rhonda, Cathy, Dorothy, Kay, and Curtis, also help make sure everything runs smoothly and our community is taken care of.
And you can always count on Joe Boaz to show his love for the USA! 🇺🇸 His patriotic spirit is always on full display!

Service with a Smile: Anson High School Delivers Meals on Wheels

The summer feeding program will start on June 1st and go through June 25th, Monday - Thursday, at Anson Elementary.
Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 9:30; lunch from 11:00 to 12:30, and it is open to the public.
Children may receive a meal at no cost.
Adults may purchase meals: breakfast - $4.00; lunch - $5.75.

Anson Bands Unite for Outstanding Spring Concert
The Anson Bands came together last night for a tremendous Spring Concert at the Anson Auditorium. The evening featured performances from the 6th Grade Band, the 7th/8th Grade Band, and the Tiger Band, showcasing the hard work and dedication of students from every level of the program. Family, friends, and community members filled the auditorium to support the talented musicians as they performed a variety of selections throughout the night.
Under the leadership of Mr. Flippo, Mr. Whitworth, and Mr. Hartman, the students demonstrated outstanding growth, musicianship, and pride in representing Anson ISD. Each group brought energy and passion to the stage, making the concert a memorable experience for everyone in attendance.
One of the highlights of the evening came during the final performance when all three bands joined together on stage and around the auditorium to perform as one combined group. Seeing students from 6th grade through high school united in music was a special moment that showcased the strength, tradition, and future of the Anson band program. The powerful finale brought the crowd to its feet and served as a perfect ending to an outstanding night of music and school pride.
