AES hosted a school-wide economic fair on Thursday, April 6th. Each student provided either a good or a service that his/her classmates were able to purchase with 'money' they earned at school the previous month. Students were both producers and consumers, saw supply and demand in action, and made decisions on how to best use their money.
Food booths that students set up included popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones. Students sold handmade soaps, trinkets, small toys, and many other things. Among the services students provided were hand massages, nail polishing, and hair styling.
Staff, students' family, and several high school students were on-hand to help the students set up and run their booths, as well as to help them make decisions on how best to spend their money on the many goods and services available.
The event was a tremendous success and Priscilla Cook, AES Counselor, is already planning next year's fair.
